COMMUNICATIONS - who, what, when, where and why to make calls. Required verbiage and frequencies. Types of radios and what they are used for.

DAILY ROUTINE - what to expect on a fire operation so that you will not feel overwhelmed. Know what and when to have Load Calculations (Performance Planning) and pre-flights completed. 

WEIGHT & BALANCE - Cover how W & B is an important part of the contract bid process. What Government Aircraft Maintenance Inspectors and Pilot Inspectors look for while conducting inspections. 

AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE - How to fill out a Government Load Calc form, what the numbers mean to you as a fire pilot and how the Government Helibase and Helitack crew members utilize the form.

CONTRACTS - Walk through contracts and identify key things you need to look for in every firefighting contract. 

SAFETY/SAFECOMS - what are they, the process, how to complete, and what safecoms mean to you and the Government. Learn the mistakes made in the past.

PILOT CARDING PROCESS - introduction to the Interagency Helicopter Pilot Practical Test Standards. Pilot carding process from start to finish. Procedures for mountain flying, firefighter transport, water/retardant delivery, external load operations and more.
